Although you may not be able to see the flamenco concert you were hoping to see, unless you leave the kids with a childminder, this is a building that is worth a visit just because it is so beautiful. Its story is also quite heart warming since it was built for the citizens of Barcelona to be able to have access to the performances. This may seam obvious, but Barcelona originally had the Liceo which still exists today, but that used to be only for the high society. In 1891 the Orfeo Catalan was formed which was a choral society, and they believed that music is cultural, and everyone should have access to it. So they funded what is today known as El Palau de la Musica (The Palace of Music).

The building took 3 years to build, from 1905 till 1908 and had some of the most advanced techniques and carpenters working on the sculptures, mosaics and details of the Palau….

Inside the Palau you will find the petit Palau which is dedicated to concerts for families with children ranging from new born to adults 🙂 The sound is adapted so that it isn´t too loud for the little ones, and it is usually interactive so that the kids will stay entertained.

You will also find inside a beautiful and quiet cafe where you wont regret having a coffee and enjoying the interiors.
