My sweet friend Sarah sent Wilkie this gorgeous book last week, and I don’t know if it’s the hormones or just the sweet poetic verse (probably both!), but it made me well up with tears while reading it.
The Wonderful Things You Will be by Portland-based author/illustrator, Emily Winfield Martin, is a beautifully illustrated book that celebrates all the possibilities of what our children can be and do when they grow up. Each page is more beautiful than the next, ending with a fold-out illustrated spread.
There is something so heart-tugging about holding a brand new baby in your arms while reading him a poem about growing up and all the wonderful things he can be….! What a thoughtful newborn baby gift.
