Barcelona Aquarium

Not having grown up by the coast, and having spent little time in seas or oceans, I find aquariums particularly fascinating, and could spend hours looking at the fish and sea creatures. Although the Barcelona Aquarium may not be the most impressive aquarium I’ve ever seen, nor the largest, it has a good selection of fish and in my mind quite nicely displayed. There is even a moving underwater tunnel where you can see sting rays and sharks swimming right above you, probably as close as you can get for people who are afraid of water or scuba diving..

This is not an aquarium where you will find larger species like whales or seals, they have limited room, but use it well, dedicating the space to smaller species with detailed (easy to read and understand) descriptions of each and where in the world they are found. You will also find a little break area with seats where you can have a snack and sit mesmerised by the busy fish.

On the upper floor where the restaurant is found, there is a little kids play park which was definitely a hit with the kids.

Enjoy!
