It is definitely slipper season in Europe and most of North America, time to get cosy, wear warm layers, and get those toes nice and toasty! No one wants to make breakfast with frigid feet.
So we decided to share seven of our favourite tried and tested slippers that we buy season after season for us and our families, and those growing little feet. Our ideas include various features we are fond of: slippers with grips, that still look good wash after wash, and even ones that have become family heirlooms being passed down from the eldest child to the younger ones. One thing we all agree on, slippers we favour are tested with lots of play, wear, and tear. We hope you will love these suggestions for all of your family (dads included)!
Seven Favourite Slippers:
1. Several of us agreed that the Collegien slippers are a favourite for our children. We love the fun designs and great quality — Esther and Courtney’s kids have been passing them on to each other forever. They stay on really well, wash up nicely, and because they’re made of mostly cotton with a perforated, breathable sole, little feet don’t get too hot. 2. Sheepskin Slipper Booties (UK) by Celtic are just so fluffy and cosy that the kids’ wear them even in the summer because they love the feel of them so much! The bootie shape means they also don’t slip off when running around the house. Available in many colours too! –Kate
3. Glerups’ Felt Slippers are the MOST comfortable slippers I have ever worn (my mom and my sister have them too). And they make them for children and fathers as well. –Courtney
4. I love Catspads socks by Falke. We have used them for nearly a decade for the entire family! They are cosy and anti-slip and perfect to bring traveling as they’re so small. Durable too — Casper is wearing ones that have been passed on to him from all the other three kids! The baby ones are adorable too. –Esther
5. These fluffy bunny slippers from White Company are irresistible! About 2 Christmas’ ago we bought the girls slippers and they are so so comfy for them. They have non-slip soles which are great on our floors and they wash over and over again without any shrinkage. Equally their pj’s are amazing too! Great value!! –Vanessa
6. My mom has visited family in Austria over the years and always brings back these wool Austrian slippers for the kids, which are so cute. I love the red and green colours too — they are so Christmasy! –Courtney
7. This brand from Maine, Quoddy slippers, are beautifully made to last a lifetime and a bit of an investment (Christmas is coming!). They are made by hand to order, including supple deerskin and beeswax coated threads. And when they eventually need a little bit of care they can be sent back to be resoled or repaired. They’re a constant on my feet at home year-round, to the point that something feels off when I walk around the house barefoot! – Shannon
And the handsome organic felt fox slippers by Sew Heart Felt Co are a top choice for toddlers. The little tail brushing against the calves of stripy pajamas is super cute. Both Esther and I had these slippers last year for our daughters and I am sure our youngest children will wear them next too.
