Two years ago I started our first activity advent calendar and it has quickly become a firm family tradition. The children are so excited each morning of advent — taking turns to open an envelope and discovering what special thing we’ll be doing that day.
This year, I wanted to make a bit more of the display of our calendar, so I asked Sarah Betz from Little Cube to re-design the envelopes. She came up with some very pretty patterns!
The envelopes are designed separately from the activities — I always like to be able to choose what activity works best for our schedule on a certain day (I sit down with my agenda in front of me when I put together the calendar). We included some new ideas this year (thanks, Mo!), and there are also some empty fields, in case you would like to insert your own activities.
You can download the PDF for the envelopes here, and the activities here, and easily print out everything yourself or go to a local copy-shop. I chose a heavier, natural white paper for the envelopes, and plain white copy paper for the activities. After cutting everything, it is simply a matter of folding the envelopes, glueing in the activities, and then closing them with a piece of masking tape or a pretty sticker. Presto!
I used a hole puncher and hung the activities from a stick I borrowed from Pim’s collection, but you can also tape them against the wall like Sarah did here. So easy and so great looking!
