On the edge of the 16th arrondissement, close to the Greenhouses of Auteuil and Roland Garros tennis courts, lies a restaurant dear to my heart. Growing up in Auteuil, I have seen this place change owners and concepts a few times over the years and I can say it’s actual version is my favorite. Auteuil Brasserie is the perfect place for having coffee, cocktails, a lazy breakfast, a quick lunch, a romantic dinner or a family gathering! It all works thanks to the many different spaces and atmospheres of the restaurant.
Renovated a couple years ago in a laid-back, casual yet chic atmosphere, Auteuil Brasserie takes you somewhere between a Parisian bistro, a Mexican hacienda and an Italian patio, all tied together by a mix of vintage furniture, modern design elements and a great number of plants of all kinds.
Three options are available to you if you choose to be seated outside: the bistro terrace before the entrance, the small bar tables on the side of the restaurant or the rooftop oasis, also serving as a winter garden during colder months. The inside space is divided in three different atmospheres as well: easy-going around the bar with an option near the fireplace, a little more formal in the main dining room and cosy in the billiard room.
The menu offers a wide range of Italian dishes, pasta and pizza as well as Italian lemonade and an array of fresh juices and non-alcoholic cocktails. This time, the weather was so hot we opted for fresh salads but personal favorites include the Green Detox juice and pizza Burrata. When I was pregnant I asked if the Burrata was pasteurized and was told all cheeses on the menu are: good point if you are expecting a baby but still want to satisfy the cheese-lover in you!
There are no high-chairs available but long benches with cushions will help children feel at ease in the main dining area. There are two on the rooftop terrace too, Oscar even took a little nap on one since the table next to us was free. Going upstairs with a stroller can be a little tricky but when we went, staff members were extremely helpful, carrying it up for us and finding the perfect spot to park it on the terrace. There is plenty of space between the tables on the main floor though, so you will be able to take a stroller almost everywhere with you.
Altogether, even if not specifically equipped for kids (it is almost impossible to find such in Paris), this place is a great welcoming family go-to, offering many options for your comfort and appetite. Oh and don’t forget to look out for AB, the cat and restaurant’s mascot! He is most often found strolling around the rooftop terrace and will come to you for cuddles if you let him. The bartender explained his name are the initials of Auteuil Brasserie and insisted it has to be pronounced the American way!
