Tips from a local: Cécile Roederer in the 3rd Arrondissement

Cécile Roederer is a mother of two and the founder of Smallable, one of our very favourite concept stores for children. She has lived in Paris for the last 20 years — a true expert — and now lives with her family in the 3rd Arrondissement. We were so thrilled when she offered to share her favourite spots in Paris, especially considering her experience in fashion and design.  Read below for her invaluable tips…

1. Best date night restaurant: La Table d’Aki (49 rue Vaneau, Paris 7ème): excellent Japanese chef who revisits French cuisine in an intimate setting!

2. Favourite family-friendly dinner spot: Restaurant Square trousseau for a family lunch or with friends. Children can draw on the tables and floor with chalk.

3. Cosiest local cafe (or best place to grab a take-away!): The Broken Arm (12 rue Perrée, Paris 3ème): I love the boutique-café concept. It’s also really quiet and overlooks the same square as the 3rd arrondissement’s town hall. It’s Charles’s favourite spot.

4. Trusted children’s shop: Smallable of course! : ) The SMALLable Concept Store is child-friendly: your children can play while you shop (OMY colouring-in huts, bikes, etc.).

5. Favourite women’s shop: AB33 (33, rue Charlot, Paris 3ème) for designers: Roseanna, Forte Forte, Maison Olga, Momoni, James Perse, Ginette NY…  And Smallable of course! We have a select range of over 60 women’s fashion, accessory and shoe brands and we’re also offering new lingerie and swimwear brands for SS18: Esquisse, Albertine, La Nouvelle…

6. Coolest local playground: Square du Temple (64 rue de Bretagne, Paris 3ème).

7. Favourite food shop: Le Verre Volé (54 rue de la Folie Méricourt, Paris 11ème) a great grocers- delicatessen with only rigorously selected products: Le Prince Paris ham, ice-creams and sorbets, good pasta, delicatessen … The precursor of Maison Plisson!

8. Best shop for homeware, fun finds, or special gifts: India Mahdavi (3 and 19 rue Las Cases, Paris 7ème):

9. Local activity centre or museum: La Palais de Tokyo: For children, “Le Little Palais” is a fun introduction to contemporary art and parents can enjoy themselves by discovering the beautiful museum at the same time.

10. Favourite park or outdoor space: La ménagerie du jardin des plantes. A little zoo in the heart of Paris!
