Polpo Brasserie is a little outside Paris but it is one of those places definitely worth going the few extra miles. It is such a beautiful and cosy green oases on the Seine river! Exactly what you need to relax and enjoy a slower pace on a week-end morning around brunch for example! My husband and I went with Oscar (age 1) and we loved it!
The super friendly staff helped store our stroller away upon arrival, which made us feel much more comfortable to walk around. And, big bonus for a Parisian restaurant, a high chair was waiting for Oscar when we arrived at our table. (If needed, I recommend asking for one when making your reservation as there are only a few of them.)
The atmosphere was so enchanting, it felt like a mini vacation during lunchtime! The restaurant is built on a dock on the river, so you almost feel like being on a boat, minus the seasickness (Believe me, I know what I’m talking about…) ! Totally a win-win to me!
French decorator Laura Gonzalez put so much attention to detail in every little corner of the restaurant. Eating at Polpo is like having a meal in a decor magazine or a Pinterest page! But in a good way, as everything feels luxurious yet so cosy and relaxed! It is a mix and match of natural materials, vintage rugs, cushions and more modern decor accents, topped by tons of lush green plants. Just beautiful!
The food was equally amazing. My husband and I shared the Planche Polpo as an appetizer. It is a mix of different appetizers in small portions, the perfect way to taste a variety of their dishes. The salmon rillettes were delicious! My husband then ordered a delicious tuna dish and I had the mussels in white wine sauce with fries, everything tasted wonderful!
We really liked the fact that there is a lot of space around your table (for Parisian standards). When he got tired of sitting in the high chair, Oscar could easily move around our table without disturbing our neighbors or the waiters. He crawled around and played peacefully with his toys on the big carpet. And a happy kid makes happy parents, right?
So, think of it: delicious food in a wonderful setting on the river, topped by everything your kids need to be happy… Hop on that Uber and go out for brunch! I promise you won’t regret it!
