Cantina del Ponte Tower Bridge – Authentic Italian Cuisine and Breathtaking Riverside Views

Cantina Del Ponte is a traditional Italian trattoria situated right beside the River Thames. Just a stones throw from popular attractions such as the Tower of London, HMS Belfast and the Shard. Boasting panoramic views of Tower Bridge and the gleaming cityscape beyond, it is a truly memorable spot for a meal.

The welcome here is warm and relaxed, in true Italian style. And if you can tear your eyes away from the view, you’ll find the menu is filled with an array of mouthwatering regional dishes and plenty of reliable family favourites too.

We were lucky to visit Cantina Del Ponte on a balmy summers evening so obviously chose to make the most of the beautiful surroundings by dining alfresco. The outside tables fill up quickly so if you are heading down on a warm day, get there early to grab the best spots.

Our food was delicious and exactly what we were hoping for, well cooked, simple dishes packed with flavour. Including prosciutto with melone — so sweet, the kind you rarely find in this country (of course the melons had to be from Italy). And a Spaghetti allo Scoglio one of my favourite dishes and the best I’ve tasted since we were in Positano.

We ended the meal with the most incredible nectarines soaked in red wine, complimented by a perfectly sour lemon sorbet. The kids enjoyed free Bambino Sundaes – a half ice cream/half milkshake concoction piled high with all sorts of goodies. Needless to say these went down a storm.  Complimentary Bambino Sundaes are on offer to all kids until the end of August when parents dine from the À la carte menu.
