The new summer collection at HATCH

Last week I made a quick trip over to Amsterdam for a team meeting and planning session. It was the first time I’ve seen Esther and Emilie since we were together in NYC for the ShopUp last September — the longest we’ve gone without seeing each other since we became friends 11 years ago! Of course, arriving at Esther’s house, it felt like I had only been gone a week, and we picked up right where we left off. Isn’t it wonderful to have friends like that?!

After quickly getting caught up on the personal stuff (kids, husbands, travels, hobbies, etc.) we switched straight in to work/planning mode. We managed to film a video for our YouTube channel (stay tuned!), we planned the agenda for the following day’s meeting, and we ran a few errands in her neighbourhood.

Earlier in the week, HATCH had sent over a few pieces from their summer collection for us to test out. So that evening, while getting ready for dinner, we asked our Amsterdam-based contributor, Vicky, to come over and snap some photos while we tried things on (major perks of the job being we get to test out beautiful, summery clothing from this super stylish maternity label all in the name of work!). ; )

While HATCH is designed for pregnancy, with loose-fitting shapes and silhouettes to compliment a growing bump, Esther and I have always loved this label even when not pregnant. The clothing is always super flattering and effortlessly chic at the same time.

For example, the Randall Jumper that I’m wearing in the photos above is roomy enough for a baby bump, but when worn without a bump, it has a relaxed fit that is perfect for easy summer days. I love the thick cotton fabric of this jumper (hand-loomed in Marrakech!) with flattering stripes going in all the right directions. It’s little details like this that make the HATCH pieces feel extra special.

In the photos above, Esther is wearing the Riviera Dress, and with its pretty fabric and caftan shape it is the perfect piece to dress up or down – a perfect combo of laid-back style and high fashion.

Vicky snapped some photos of us on our way to dinner, and I just love these shots of us walking (and talking, talking, talking!!). In the photos above, I’m wearing the Caza Dress (look how flattering the stripes on the back are!), and Esther is wearing the Sunset Maxi (the pretty colours!). HATCH always does a perfect job of creating pieces that can be worn in the daytime for a relaxed, effortless feel… and then easily dressed up a bit for a chic look in the evening.

It dawned on me that the last time I saw Esther in NYC, we took some photos of us for the HATCH autumn/winter collection. How fun to have these photos of the two of us from then and now!
