Last-minute (paper) Valentine Flowers!

Can you believe it that it’s Valentine’s already? What kind of treats are you preparing for your loved ones? I’m so so bad with this, or any other holiday as a matter of fact. But one of my new year’s resolutions is to start acknowledging and celebrating them more. Another one is to learn how to knit! ; )

I did this craft with Tila a while ago and remembered about it now because it’s a perfect valentines gift, don’t you think? Usual flowers die but these last forever plus they are made with hands of a gift-giver!

Let’s see what you need:

-Some kite paper
-Scissors
-Green Pipe Cleaner

First stack a desired amount and colors of paper (from about 5 – 10)
Fold the stack making each fold about 2 cm wide until you reach the end of paper.

Find the middle of the folded paper, fold the paper cleaner and twist the ends to make a stem.

Hold at the end with your thumb and index finger and cut both ends round.

Now spread the paper on one side and starting at the bottom carefully separate the layers one at the time. Do it slowly so the paper doesn’t tear. But do not worry if it does. It almost always happens to me, but the outcome is still very pretty. Continue until all layers are separated and then repeat with the other side.

Using your fingers, fluff up the petals so the flower looks more natural!

That’s it! Play with different colors, sizes and shapes (maybe try cutting ends triangularly).

Happy valentine’s my dears!
