Summer is arriving and we did not even see it coming! One day it is cold and grey and then next the sun is everywhere and people are walking in the streets with a big smile on their face! I do love this time of year.
Summer also means digging out all the summer clothes of summers past. I always manage to pack away clothes in the autumn that I am convinced are still going to fit my girls, only to unpack them when the sun is out to realize that nothing fits anymore.
Also with girls rapidly approaching teenage-hood – from their shapes to their attitude – things are different now.
I am also a bit un-French when it come to swim wear. Much as I like lovely little designs, I do actually feel that there are moments when it is not a bad idea to cover up on a beach in the middle of the day – our Irish skin is not the best at tolerating the hot, hot sun – so we are on the look out for swim wear that is stylish enough to work for the girls and sensible enough to work for me – a tall order!
We have been wearing Surlaplage suits, hats and sun glasses. This Dutch Australian brand has managed to merge European style with the anti-podean understanding for sun safety. It is a perfect mix for us! The hats are made out of raffia, give good coverage and look cute. The swim suit we like includes a short sleeved rash top and gives UPF 50 + protection – and it is so stylish, I want one too! ; ) We love the muted colours and straightforward designs. The different items are interchangeable, so you can add a rash vest onto a swimsuit, wear the bikini undies with a rash vest or a bikini top — whatever works for the moment.
Now we are all ready for the beach!
