Emilie, a Parisian mom of three (two girls and one boy) is the author of Sweet Cabane, an influential blog-magazine for mums and kids. She lives in the 6th arrondissement of Paris with her family and shares her favourite spots of the city with us.
1. Best date night restaurant: there are lots of wonderful restaurants in Paris and we change a lot. But one of our favourites is Septime in the 11th — very good, fresh and seasonal food in a cool atmosphere.
2. Favourite family-friendly dinner spot: we love going to Pizza Chic, just near our home. They have very good pizzas, carpaccios and wonderful desserts. We all love it! It’s not far away from Jardin du Luxembourg.
3. Cosiest local cafe (or best place to grab a take-away!): I love going to Bread and Roses, (62 rue Madame, Paris 6th) — the tea and pastries are amazing! My favourite is their raspberry and blueberry tiramisu. The best ever! You can eat there or take away as you wish.
4. Trusted Children’s shop: Bonton, rue de Grenelle, the shop where I’ve bought kids esentials for many years. Love the timeless style, the colours and the collection that is both for boys and girls.
5. Favourite women’s shop: AB33, rue Charlot (Paris 3rd) with a lovely selection from my favourite brands : Isabel Marant, Pas de Calais, Pomanrède…
6. Coolest local playground: Jardin du Luxembourg, swings, puppet theatre, ponies, merry-go-round…and the biggest cotton candies… Everything you need for kids!
7. Favourite food shop: La Grande Epicerie de Paris where you can find everything you need. Paradise when you love cooking as I do!
8. Best shop for homewares, fun finds, or special gifts: La Trésorerie, always pretty finds for the home: bed linen, tableware, soaps… I love the importance they give to sourcing and working with local craftsmen.
9. Local activity center or museum: Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain, always interesting exhibitions and wonderful art workshops for kids! And there is a lovely garden to play!
10. Favourite park or outdoor space: Parc de Sceaux, in the southern suburb of Paris. A wonderful park, with many different areas to walk, to have a rest, to picnic… In the Spring, there are a lot of trees blossoming. A gem!
Thanks Emilie for sharing your favourites with us!
