Team Favourites: Sixteen of the Best Holiday Films for the Family

Cosy family days are here! And what a wonderful time of year it is. A time to take a break and relax on the sofa surrounded by your loved ones, while watching a favourite film. An excuse to spend the entire day in pyjamas. (We can’t wait!) So take a pause between the wrapping, baking, decorating, gifting, unwrapping, or feasting and enjoy a family film and a few laughs. It is one of those great traditions of the holiday season.

Peruse our list of sixteen favourite films, make some buttery popcorn, warm up the hot cocoa, and grab your fluffiest blankets! Each of these films is tried and tested, watched and loved…We hope you enjoy them as well.

Team Favourites : Sixteen of the Best Holiday Films for the Family

  1. The Nightmare Before Christmas (UK) or US — After all I work in animation, it is beautiful, but this is not one for younger kids and you need to love Tim Burton. — Emilie
  2.  Ernest and Celestine (UK) or US  — Again not strictly Christmas but I love this movie and it is great to watch as a group. — Emilie
  3. Paper Planes (UK)  or US  — A real feel good film! — Vanessa
  4. The Sound of Music (UK) or  US  — Always a favourite film, year round! It is simply the most uplifting, and what better than watching it indoors under cosy eiderdowns! — Everyone
  5. Mary Poppins (UK) or US — Has to be seen once a year, and Christmas is a good time. — Esther
  6. The Incredibles (UK) or US — Not strictly a Christmas movie but an animated movie that the whole family can hucker down and watch. — Emilie
  7. Disney Santa Paws 2 – The Santa Pups (UK) or US — A feel good cheesy sing along movie. My daughter knew every song from this movie by the time she was 4. — Kate
  8. Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer (UK) or US — As a child I loved watching the Christmas specials on television. The 1964 version of Rudolph is an absolute classic and even as an adult I look forward to watching it once a year! — Shannon
  9. Paddington (UK) or US — I could watch this film over and over again, let alone the children! — Vanessa
  10. Miracle On 34th Street (UK) or US — Such a lovely feel good film, I loved this as a kid and love snuggling up with my kids to watch it every year. — Kate
  11. The Snowman (UK) or US — The softest, gentlest, and most beautiful illustrations. The music alone is worth it. — Lara
  12. A Christmas Story (UK) or US — So fun and retro. I watched it every year as a kid and now share it with mine. — Shannon
  13. Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas (UK) or US  — The Boris Karloff version of The Grinch is another Christmas classic. As excellent today as it was when I was a child! — Shannon
  14. Home Alone (UK) or US — No matter how many times we’ve watched this movie, we always end up in hysterics. Such a good one! — Courtney
  15. Frosty The Snowman (UK) or US — The original Frosty the Snowman and still the very best. — Shannon
  16. Elf (UK) or US — A hilarious christmas movie that adults will love as much as kids. — Kate
