If like me you’ve got kids who crave adventure and love to climb trees then check out the recently opened Go Ape Alexandra Palace.
The Tree Top Junior course is open to all children over 1m tall and adults too. Yes that’s right, if you’ve ever fancied balancing perilously on a log 30 feet up in the air, then you too can get involved! In a moment of madness that’s exactly what I decided to do. But thankfully you won’t see any photos of me pale faced, knees trembling, trying desperately hard to keep up with my daring duo.
The fun filled canopy adventure combines lots of wobbly crossings, log bridges ladders, scramble nets and to finish, an exhilarating 50m zip wire. Of all the activities this was definitely the kid’s favourite but they also expressed a real sense of achievement in conquering some of the trickier obstacles.
I was amazed at how fearlessly they attempted some of the challenging swinging crossings. And jumping straight off the towering tree top platform to the zip wire below was apparently no big deal!
In total the course lasted about an hour and we got to try out two different routes. It is much smaller than most Go Ape courses and the setting may not quite compare to some of the other countryside forest locations. But it is accessible to a much younger age range and as far as urban adventures go we give it the thumbs up. My kids are already begging to go back.
For prices and more information about booking the Tree Top Junior course at Ally Pally check out the Go Ape Website. For older kids (minimum age 10yrs) you can also try out their more extensive Battersea Park Location.
